Since kindergarten, many people have been conditioned to think of summer as a break from routine and responsibility. And this “schools out” mindset even carries over into adulthood. Even though the work world operates year-round and responsibilities don’t suddenly cease, we reflexively feel more carefree during the summer months, like we did when we were kids.

So, lean into this feeling and embrace the simple pleasures of summer to keep this feeling alive.

For me, the first step in seeking simple pleasures is to decide to do it. It sounds like an idyllic pursuit but it actually takes some doing. It takes clearing time in your schedule to enjoy the simple things in life. It means slowing down to smell the roses and maybe even unplugging so that you can interact with real people and things rather than the surreal.

When you think, of simple pleasures what pops into your head?

For me, It’s a glass of wine in the evening in my beautiful backyard oasis, walks on the beach, eating outside and talking and laughing for hours as the sun goes down! I like to listen to the birds in my yard and walk in the garden seeing what is in bloom for the day

Your idea of simple pleasures might be quite different. One thing is the same, though. You have to make time in your schedule to experience them. You have to actively look for them and even get creative sometimes in order to experience new simple pleasures that you might have never experienced yet.

So, take some time this weekend to enjoy the simple pleasures of summer and feel like a kid all over again!

The Dictionary defines an army as a large number of people or things, typically formed or organized for a particular purpose. My purpose with this blog is to organize enough positive energy to hopefully make a difference in people’s lives.
